Orland Park History
The Village of Orland Park, was incorporated May 31, 1892. The Manager Form of Government which was adopted on November 5, 1983, is available to all municipalities under 500,000 in population and allows the municipality to retain its governmental structure as an aldermanic-city form, trustee-village form, or commission form while adopting the features of the manager form.
Local legislation in the Village of Orland Park is provided by the elected Board of Trustees. The elected officials include the Village President (Mayor), Village Clerk and six Village Trustees, each of whom is elected at large (village wide) to a four year term. The Village Board meets on the first and third Monday of each month at 7:00 P.M., in the Board Room of the Frederick T. Owens Village Hall, 14700 South Ravinia Avenue, one block west of LaGrange Road/U.S. Route 45. These meetings, as well as the committee meetings held at the same time on alternating Mondays, are open to the public. Meeting agendas are subject to change up to and including the time of the meeting. To contact the mayor or trustees, please call Mayor McLaughlin's Office at 403-6100 or email Village of Orland Park Officials.

Orland Park Recreation

The Village is served by its own Recreation and Parks Department, which is not a park district. The Recreation and Parks Department offers a comprehensive program for all ages that includes preschool activities, dance, exercise, music, cultural arts, clubs, senior activities, special recreation, and events and activities just for teens.
The Franklin E. Loebe Recreation Center, located in the award winning Orland Park Village Center Complex, is the hub of leisure time services in the community. Named for Orland Park's former village treasurer of 65 years, Franklin E. Loebe, this building includes classrooms, an indoor playground, indoor walking track, wrestling and dance rooms and the administrative offices of the department.
The Recreation and Parks Department is also responsible for maintaining the Village's 500-plus acre park system, including Centennial Pool and the Grinding Edge Skate Park. Both Centennial Park and the John Humphrey Sports Complex are known throughout the area for many outdoor activities. Named for Orland Park's first mayor, the Humphrey Sports Complex encompasses 20 acres of lighted softball, baseball, and football fields, along with concession and restroom facilities.
Centennial Park is a 236 acre site which boasts ball fields and soccer fields that are used by local organizations. State, regional and national tournaments have been hosted at Orland Park's Centennial Park. In addition, Centennial Park includes a marina, path system, ice rink and sled hill.
